Thank you so much...

After a few years, what started out as a way to "warn people about this shit", the Now, Chew On This blog has come to an end.

As you can see it has been 6 months since I posted last (outside of the last 2 reviews also posted tonight).  This also isn't the first time I have had a break in my postings.

The main issue here is time.  I used to have time to not just review the gums, but also collect all the reviews and post them to the blog.  I can't spare the 30 minutes anymore.

Perhaps in the future, I will pick it back up.

Never the less, thank you for reading and chewing!

3.30 - Extra Dessert Delights: Apple Pie

It seems these Dessert Delights gums are really hit and miss.  Either you like the concept or you don't.  Personally, apple pie seems like a very strange thing to try, but I think it worked fantastic.

Flavor lasts quite a while.  I have been chewing for over 30 minutes and though the flavor has faded, it is still there."
"Just like a Denver running game.  Strong at first, then quickly gets diluted."

It accomplishes what it sets out to do.  It tastes like an apple pie.  I can taste the apple goo, I can taste the sugar, I can taste the mild cinnamon."
"Much better than I anticipated – not great but definitely not horrible"
"I was pleasantly surprised with the taste!"
"No desert gum ever tastes good to me."

2.80 - Wrigley's Big Red

Ah, Big Red.  The classic cinnamon gum.  This gum's big, yeah, yeah, yeah.  This gum's red, yeah, yeah, yeah... No wait, that is Honeycomb cereal's tune.

Anyway, it basically comes down to, if you like cinnamon gum, you will like this one.  If you don't, you won't.

The gum is hard and almost breaks when you first chew it…at barely 10 minutes in, it feels like I am chewing a ball of rubber."
"Loses a point due to being fairly hard/dry when you first put in your mouth.  After you finally start chewing, it gets better, although not quite as good as the best gums out there."

2.43 - Mentos Gum: UP2U: Mandarin Strawberry

Mentos Gum: UP2U: Mandarin Strawberry is one half of the new Mentos "Up to you" line of gums.

Basically it is two half packs of gum put together. In this case, it is paired with Spearmint, which we reviewed last time.

Comments:
"Not great and not horrible. Rather ‘meh’. The strawberry wasn’t very detectable – felt more like a vague citrus-y flavor that I couldn’t quite pin down. Pretty mediocre showing, Mentos. Try harder next time."
"For what it is, I guess it is okay, but nothing special."
"At first, it was unpleasant – my tongue tingled and a toxic waste kind of way, not a fun Pop Rocks kind of way; then it got better."
"The inventor of this gum must hate his fellow man."
"Yuck."

2.45 - Trident Layers: Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus

Trident Layers: Wild Strawberry + Tangy Citrus is the next Layers offering. Basically take two flavors that may or may not go together and cram them into one gum.

2.64 - Wrigley's 5: Swerve

Comments:
"Taste matches the description but is too tangy for me."
"I think the name Swerve came from the fact they tried to avoid hitting the taste and killing it, so they swerved. Unfortunately, they missed. The Taste is rotting and revolting. It tries to be orangey, but the overabundance of battery acid (chemical flavor) is too much."
"It starts out very artificial and kinda gross, mellow to tolerable, then alters into a bland pathetic fruity chemical aftertaste."
"Tastes like an orange that has had all of the juice squeezed out of it, or one of those vitamin water zero calorie orange drinks; either/or."
