1.88 - Wrigley's Hubba Bubba Glop: Strawberry Gush

Wrigley's Hubba Bubba Glop: Strawberry Gush is one of those gums, you remember them...they had the gooey center. Gel or Jelly or Liquid or some other unnameable goo that was supposed to make the gum more refreshing and more flavorful. Sometimes it worked out great, sometimes it didn't. I remember as a kid, these kinds of gums were cool. As an adult, things change. Either my perception or the quality of the gum/goo combo.

This gum comes in a hard case, which holds 5 pieces, which are large, pellet shaped, and coated with a harder shell (I guess all to protect the goo). A neat idea, but I wonder if they could just save money on the hard case and invest more into a better gum.

Comments:
"Just a few minutes into chewing this gum and BOOM, there is no flavor and it is like you are chewing a piece of paper."
"Starts out strong, and then like that *poof*, he’s gone."
"Gone after the first chew."

Taste: 2.5
Jay - 4
Kevin - 1
Dan - 2
Adam - 3

Comments:
"At first I would give this a low score, but after the fluid and shell part dissipated, I got better."
"Flavor was so-so with the initial gush part. The after-taste when then the flavor leaves is not good though. Not good at all. Had to wash out mouth with a much better gum after wards."
"Poorer than poor."

Comments:
"The flavor at first is very strong and I didn’t much care for it – then almost immediately the flavor disappeared."
"Kind of weak."
"Zilch."

Texture & Consistency: 2.25
Jay - 4
Kevin - 1
Dan - 2
Adam - 2

Comments:
"The consistency goes from weak (easy to chew) and then to very hard to chew."
"Pretty poor. Very large size gum piece and yet fairly hard to chew. Could see this gum making your mouth sore after a while."
"Like chewing an old tire."

Comments:
"Nothing about this gum is refreshing."
"After the quick flavor departure and the chew hardness, my mouth was not refreshed. The gush part was not a gamechanger."
"Yuck."

Bubble Blowing: 2.0
Jay - 3
Kevin - 2
Dan - 2

Comments:
"It is a real PITA to try and blow a bubble with this shitty gum."
"Pretty sad. Gum was difficult to blow bubbles in, and the popped bubble tended to stick to your lips."

4.60 - Trident: Spearmint

Well, this is our first review into the Kingdom of Trident. As you will see it was a mostly pleasant journey. There is no other way to say this, but after some of the other gums we tried (that will be coming up in the blog soon), the call went out to see if there was any of this gum left, as it truly did refresh and cleanse.

"As with most of these kinds of gums, not enough. The gum needed to be about twice as much."
"Not bad, a bit soft."

3.24 - Wrigley's Juicy Fruit

Wrigley's Juicy Fruit was one of the gum world's everlasting entries by Wrigley's, along with "Double Mint" and "Big Red" (which we will get to later on!).

We aren't really sure what fruit or fruits make up the "Fruit" in "Juicy Fruit". Wikipedia says that it is a combination of possibly peach, pineapple, and banana. And did you know that this gum was introduced over 115 years ago!
